Time is of the essence

October 3, 2015

They say that time
Is slightly different for me and you
That it speed up the higher up you are
And slows down the farther down you get
But I forget
And just let
It all slip away

Who am I to be such a time waster?
Wasting it on a laugh or two
Forgetting about You
Lying in bed with sheets over my head
And a screen glued
To my eyes

Lies
Time is nothing
Neither fast or slow
If all you do is let it pass you by

Not accepting our flaws

October 3, 2015

photo 1He said to us our issue is in accepting our flaws.

At some point we begin to say “Well that’s just how I am”. We turn our flaws in to parts of us and lead ourselves to believe that we are what we do, both good and bad. But this is not only untrue but the lazy way out. The whispering of the devil, your caprice or the world all telling you this is just how you are, accept it. But our flaws aren’t like birthmarks. They develop and find their home in our being they’re a part of us only if we allow them to be.

Would I lose the essence of myself if I stopped binging all together? No, though I admit that binging whether often or occasionally have been a part of my life for a long time. When a cut arrives on our body we know it isn’t a part of us but if it sits there long enough, if it become a scar, it may one day give us the illusion that it is a birth mark -haven’t I always had this thing? We’ll begin to think. But if we think back hard enough we’ll remember the day a sharp object penetrated our bodies, became a cut and later a scar. Our flaws aren’t a part of us, we can change them, and God will help us every moment we try.

New Name: By the fig and the olive

October 2, 2015

“By the fig and the olive. And [by] Mount Sinai. And [by] this secure city [Makkah], We have certainly created man in the best of stature; Then We return him to the lowest of the low, Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds, for they will have a reward uninterrupted. So what yet causes you to deny the Recompense? Is not Allah the most just of judges?” 95, 1-8

photo-2New name and new direction, mostly reflective and introspective writings and photos. It may seem a bit flaky -this is my fourth blogging name change since beginning as a teen, but as flaky as it might be I’m just the kind of girl who needs renewal every now and then, I hope old readers (Are you out there?) will enjoy the words and photos I put here. I almost wrote “content” but this is not about content this is just a space where I will write sometimes frequently sometimes not, sometimes formal sometimes informal, sometimes personal and sometimes impersonal, and that for me is good enough. Simply to create a space where my heart could spend some quite time and maybe yours can too.

P.S. My old blog name -which was my namesake, will be used as a resume like space to list my books and writings published elsewhere but it won’t be up until Fall of next year…
